Assam government revised the pay-scale of its employees

The Assam government will implement the recommendations of the sixth state pay commission report, which revised the pay-scale of its employees within the current year.

After receiving the report from commission chairman Bhaskar Barua here yesterday, chief minister Tarun Gogoi told reporters today, "we have already provided Rs3,382 crore, of the additional cost of Rs4500 crore".

"We will manage the around Rs1200 crore gap...The effect to the recommendations will be given by the cabinet within two months", Gogoi said.

"The procedure needs to be followed for fixation of pay that has been now been recommended in five broad bands instead of the existing individual pay slabs", he added.

The chief minister said the pay scales were in line with the government’s recent decision to grant salary on par with those working in central government offices.
