Government of Manipur recommended extension of the 6th Central Pay Commission

Like in other States of the country, the State Cabinet has recommended extension of the 6th Central Pay Commission to the employees of the Government of Manipur with effect from April. SPF spokesperson N Biren informed that in view of extension of 6th Central Pay Commission to the Government employees in other parts of the country with effect from next fiscal year, 2010-2011, the Cabinet recommended extension of the same benefit to the Government employees of the State starting from April. It may be noted here that the State Government proposed to the 13th Finance Commission for extending the benefit of the 6th Central Pay Commission to its employees.


The proposal, however, does not have the amount for payment of arrears. Although the report of the 13th Finance Commission has already been submitted to the President of India, it is to be finalised only after the President gives her assent. So far the report is yet to be finalised. Though payment of arrears had not been proposed o the 13th Finance Commission, the SPF spokesman assured that the State Government would be lobbying in this regard. Biren further informed that the meeting of the State Cabinet presided over by Chief Minister also recommended extension of assistance to the students of Sainik School, Imphal with regard to their tuition fee and dietary.



Accordingly, the Government would be providing cent percent financial assistance to the students who secured 90 percent and above marks in the entrance and annual examinations of the school. The Government would also be extending financial aid upto 70 percent on the tuition fee and upto 50 percent on the dietary of the General category students who secured 80 to 89.9 percent mark and SC/ST students who secured 75 to 84.9 percent mark.


General category students who secured 65 to 79.9 percent mark and SC/ST students who secured 60 to 74.9 percent marks would also avail financial aid upto 60 percent on their tuition fee and upto 50 percent on dietary. Moreover, Govt would also provide financial assistance upto 50 percent on tuition fee and another 50 percent on their dietary respectively to general students who secured 55 to 64.9 percent mark and SC/ST students who secured 50 to 59.9 percent mark.


Apart from discussing the opening address that the Governor is scheduled to deliver in the upcoming session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, today’s Cabinet meeting has also approved appointment of a Training Officer and Documentation cum Research officer of the Earthquake and Natural Calamity.
